Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon wants to follow in the footsteps of Hollywood couple Heidi Klum and Seal - with a lavish annual wedding ceremony to celebrate his union with the pop superstar.
German supermodel Klum and her singer husband Seal, have been exchanging vows with themed ceremonies every year since their own 2005 nuptials.
Do it big or don't do it at all. We're always having a party... It was so quiet the first time and we want to have a party for everybody. We went to the Maldives and had another wedding on a private island,' the Daily Express quoted Cannon as saying.

Jon and Kate Gosselin announce separation

Celebrity parents Jon and Kate Gosselin say they plan to divorce.

The breakdown of the marriage of America's reality TV couple Jon and Kate Gosselin has forced TLC to postpone future episodes of "Jon & Kate Plus 8."
"Kate and I have decided to separate," Jon said during an individual interview in which Kate wasn't present.
"Yes, we have decided that we will separate," Kate said in her own separate interview.
Based on the comments made during their separate interviews, it appeared as though Jon was the one who pushed for the separation.
"I tried to contemplate and think about it what would be better for us and it's just not good for our kids to be arguing in front of our kids. We can't be cordial with one another and we've decided to separate," Jon said.

Kate said the couple's children would remain with her in the family home in Pennsylvania, but that she and Jon would share custody and he would go into the home to be with the children.
"The kids will remain living in their house -- I've always called this their house. I will remain here as well during my portion of having them. Jon will also come here when it is his days and we will flip-flop that way," Kate said. "It's going to change a lot because I'm going to have time that I have to be away from here."

Chris Brown admits Rihanna assault

US singer Chris Brown pleaded guilty Monday to assaulting Rihanna and the two were ordered to stay away from each other, in a deal that keeps the singer out of prison but requires him to clean up graffiti or roadside trash.

Lawyers for Brown, who had earlier pleaded not guilty to assault charges, announced the deal as the singer appeared in Los Angeles Superior Court for a preliminary hearing into the case.
Instead, Brown averted the potentially damaging meeting by entering a plea that will subject him to probation for the next five years as well as force him to perform six months of community service.
Brown's sentence is comparable to other felony sentences when the defendant has no previous record, she said.
Rihanna appeared in court with her lawyer Monday after Brown had left the packed courtroom.

"She was fully prepared to testify to what happened that evening and she would have told the truth," Etra said, brushing off questions concerning the state of Rihanna's current relations with Brown.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the sixth installment in the Warner Bros. film series, will be released July 15, and expectations are that it will be one of the year's blockbusters.

The previous five Potter movies have generated $7.2 billion in worldwide box office and DVD sales, reaping huge profits for the studio and Potter's creator, author J.K. Rowling.
"There's been a fairly substantial shrinkage in the overall DVD market since the last 'Harry Potter' film came out," said Tom Adams, a home video industry analyst. According to Adams, DVD sales were down 9 percent in 2008 and he's projecting that they will fall another 8 percent in 2009.

Though the "Potter" movies have historically been huge DVD sellers, each sequel has sold far fewer units than its predecessor. Sales of the last release were off 15 percent in the first eight weeks compared with sales of the first film during the same time span. Even a small decline in DVD sales is a challenge for expensive movies because it raises the stakes for profitability.
And the bar for Harry Potter is higher than ever. Warner Bros. spent $250 million to produce "Half-Blood Prince" and will invest another $155 million to market and distribute the movie, according to people familiar with the situation.

Harry Potter aim to rock box office and Transformers

The pair are this year's surefire blockbusters "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," opening Wednesday, and "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," coming in mid-July.

If history holds true, the combination of "Transformers" and "Harry Potter" should more than match the whopping $533.3 million haul of "The Dark Knight" and keep the movie business on track to beat last year's summer record revenue of $4.2 billion.
While ticket sales have been brisk this season, Hollywood fell into a bit of a slump this month, when receipts three weekends in a row fell short of business over the same periods last year.
But at this point a year ago, the debut of "The Dark Knight" was still a month away. The film was a phenomenon, giving Hollywood a stellar second wind at a point in summer when the box office often starts to trickle off.
"June gloom definitely hit the box office, but I think things are going to turn around," Dergarabedian said. "We've got that one-two punch of `Transformers' and `Harry Potter."'
Anticipation for Paramount's "Transformers" is so high that it could lift that sequel into the $400 million realm, while Warner Bros. is opening "Half-Blood Prince" the same weekend it debuted "The Dark Knight," hoping lightning strikes again. "Harry Potter" fever is growing, with "Half-Blood Prince" the lead-in to the two-part big-screen adaptation of the final book in J.K. Rowling's fantasy series.
While other studios did not want to tread too closely to the release date of "Transformers," Hollywood may have stuffed too many action flicks into May, when "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," "Star Trek" and "Terminator Salvation" all opened within a few weeks. Meantime, June swooned, loaded with comedies and light on action until "Transformers."

Madonna's star power focuses on orphans

Mercy James Ciccone, the little girl Madonna adopted from Malawi, is set to accompany the U.S. pop star when she goes back on tour this summer, sources said.

Eliza Manyoza, a banana vendor in Malawi's colonial-era capital Zomba, says she has never heard a Madonna song. She only knows the American pop icon as an "adopter" of orphaned children.
"I am told she is a nice woman who wants to help our children," Manyoza, 39, told AFP, with her nine-month-old baby strapped at her back and balancing a basket of bananas on her head.

Madonna has established her own charity Raising Malawi, which has built a state-of-the-art hostel at Home of Hope in Mchinji -- the orphanage where she first saw her adopted son David among the 500 children cared for there.
Plan Malawi, an international charity focussing on children, applauded Madonna's good intentions, but urged her to do more to lobby governments and businesses to strengthen community structures on the ground, Plan adds.
"The challenges facing our orphans and other vulnerable children can be handled with a strong social protection structure," said Mcdonald Mumba, Plan's children's rights advisor.
