"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" opens, but the movie landscape has undergone seismic shifts since the film franchise started in 2001 and skipped through the decade earning nearly $4.5 billion worldwide.
The entertainment world has morphed just since August, when Warner Bros. announced it was bumping the sixth Potter movie from November 2008 to July 2009 and incited angry online petitioners.
Now, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" has Voldemort tightening his grip on the Muggle and wizarding worlds, as danger and hormones rage.
After all, "The Lord of the Rings" films each were nominated for Best Picture and the third won, and he ranks "Potter" in their league.
After box-office expert Paul Dergarabedian saw the latest "Potter" at an industry preview, he blogged he was "blown away like a Quidditch player on a supercharged broomstick. Not only that, halfway through I'm thinking the unthinkable -- 10 Academy Award nominations are available this year, hmm, I wonder ... ."
"I just thought the movie was terrific, I really enjoyed it. It made sense to me, I got involved, I liked the fact that they're older and definitely more assured in their acting and even the characters are more interesting," says Dergarabedian of hollywood.com.
"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" will be the first Rowling adaptation since "Twilight," but it also has girl power driving it. The series also has withstood date and seasonal switches and the audience has literally grown up with 16-year-old Harry, Ron and Hermione, leading to predictions for another big opening week.
If not record-breaking, certainly magical.

Actress Raven-Symone not pregnant
The Internet has been abuzz with whispers of a possible pregnancy – and, by some accounts, birth – for That’s So Raven star Raven-SymonĂ©, but the rumors have been put to rest.
"Raven-Symone is not pregnant nor did she give birth," her representative told People magazine.
The internet went wild on Wednesday when a blog claimed to have been contacted by someone close to Raven’s camp to inform them of the birth of a baby girl. The blog even went as far as to say the father of the baby was fellow child star Jurnee Smollett’s older brother, Jussie, who Raven did date briefly.
That much should be evident when the 23-year-old actress and singer-songwriter takes the stage Thursday night at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, N.J.
The 23-year-old actress is best known for her work on TV's "That's So Raven," "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper" and "The Cosby Show."
Though Raven has been lying pretty low since ending her run on the Disney Channel hit show That’s So Raven and releasing her self-titled album last year, she has made public appearances recently — and she didn’t appear with child at any of the events. She attended Kanye West’s Stay In School benefit concert in Chicago on June 11, and the “Creme of the Crop” post-BET Awards party in Los Angeles on June 28.
Her latest album, the self-titled Raven-Symoné, is in stores now.
She will perform tonight in New Jersey at Six Flags.

Harry Potter Star Emma Watson sets up love nest
The 'Harry Potter' actress Emma Watson has bought a new property in London which she is now sharing with financier Jay Barrymore.
"Her relationship with Jay is going from strength to strength. They are spending increasing amounts of time with one another. It makes perfect sense for Jay to leave some of his stuff at hers and see how it goes. So far, so good - and Emma's confident they'll stay together even when she's abroad."
A source said to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "Despite the fame, she's really got her head screwed on. After consulting with several property experts, as well as her family and friends, she's decided to invest in her own place.
The 19-year-old star - who is worth an estimated £10.5 million - is now living close to her father Chris' house and believes buying the property is a sound investment.

Katherine Jackson : Katherine denied control of Michael’s estate
Katherine Jackson argued lawyer John Branca – who was named as a co-ex ecutor of Michael’s estate alongside lawyer John McClain in a 2002 will – should not be allowed to assume control as he had a conflict of interest.
“There are a lot of open questions surrounding Michael Jackson's death. Mr. Branca was removed in 2006 as a trustee and Katherine was added, so we have concerns about turning over the keys to the kingdom.”
Lawyers for Michael’s mother, who was not present in the Los Angeles court, said: “Mrs. Jackson is more concerned than ever that the co-ex ecutors are proper to serve.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled Branca and McClain will have control until at least August 3.
During the hearing, which took place yesterday, it was stated that Michael’s estate added up to $500 million.
Branca and McClain were issued a £1 million bond to be used to pay employees and legal fees until August 3.
The pair also asked to be allowed to speak to AEG, the concert promoters behind the 50-show comeback Michael was set to perform at London’s 02 arena.
They said: “The estate is liable for tens of millions of dollars to AEG. We need to reduce the liability and negotiate. We need the power to deal with merchandising, pay-per-view TV, etc.”
Judge Beckloff replied: “I have no issue with you all negotiating that on behalf of the estate, subject to court approval. Katherine can have input on that."
Last week, Katherine filed a petition to become guardian of the estate of Michael – who died of a suspected cardiac arrest last month – in which she claimed he passed away "intestate", without making a will.

Angelina Jolie is set to star in an advert with David Beckham.
David Beckham and Angelina Jolie are being lined up to appear in a Giorgio Armani advertisement together.
The Oscar-winning beauty has signed a deal with Emporio Armani and the Italian fashion house is keen for her to team up with the handsome soccer star - who has appeared in a number of their campaigns, including some with wife Victoria.
The couple have a multi-million pound advertising deal with the Italian fashion house, but it now looks like Jolie could take the place of Mrs Beckham beside her husband in a new campaign.
A source said: “When you have David Beckham and Angelina Jolie signed up to your fashion house it’s a no-brainer to link them up.
However, bosses are keen to make sure the adverts are not to risque as they don’t want to ruin the committed family image both Angelina and David have.
The source added: “The two are exceptionally beautiful on camera but both are in committed relationships so the advert would have to be sexy without offending their partners.”
Angelina raises six children with partner Brad Pitt, while David has just celebrated his tenth wedding anniversary with Victoria, who he has three sons with.

As part of the scholarship, underprivileged youngsters will get the opportunity to take part in dance programs, and win grants to enrol in accredited dance studios, according to Daily Variety.

Michael Jackson's daughter Paris Jackson emerges as surprise voice of memorial
Michael Jackson's daughter, Paris Jackson, bid a tearful farewell to her daddy at the Staples Center memorial service.
With her brief speech, 11-year-old Paris Jackson also shocked the event's organizers, who said her appearance was not a planned part of the star-studded tribute to the King of Pop at Los Angeles' Staples Center on Tuesday.
"I just wanted to say, ever since I was born Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him so much."
For many watching, Paris' appearance marked a rare glimpse of a child who has spent most of her life shielded from the public.
In its execution, the speech appeared to be a surprise to those onstage and off.
"It was a surprise they were there. All of us who know them were delighted they were strong enough to come and feel this love and great outpouring for their dad," Kenny Ortega told CNN's Campbell Brown. "We would've never expected that they had the strength. It was beautiful."

"I love learning and I don't ever want to stop. It was always my dream before doing the films and I don't see why it should change."

Actress Lindsay Lohan Sued Over Tanning Spray
Lindsay Lohan has been targeted in a new lawsuit accusing the actress of stealing the formula for her new tanning spray.
The 23-year-old star launched her tanning lotion Sevin Nyne in April, touting it as the secret to her glowing complexion.
According to federal court documents filed in Tampa, Florida, Sunday is suing the pair pair for breach of contract, theft of trade secrets, civil conspiracy, intentional interference with contractual relations and deceptive and unfair trade practices.
Sunday says she had a deal with Simon's company for a tan line but balked at Simon and Lohan's request to buy the formula. Sunday says she was shocked—shocked!—to discover that her "sunless secret" ingredients were purloined for the $35 Lohan-branded Sevin Nyne, which just hit store shelves.
"It was initially envisioned would manufacture the product and ship out the spray to Ms. Simon's company," plaintiff attorney Marcia Cohen tells E! News. "Now we see Ms. Lohan taking credit for having created Ms. Sunday's formula and product."

Jennifer Hudson,Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey Usher and Lionel Richie are among the celebrities who will participate in Michael Jackson's memorial service Tuesday morning at L.A.'s Staples Center, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.
The list does not specify which of the attendees will perform, but Carey is reportedly slated to reprise her famous cover of the Jackson song "I'll Be There" at the public ceremony and CNN has reported that Oscar-winning actress/singer Hudson will also sing at the event. Other plans for the event include a performance from Indiana's first black Miss Indiana, Kellee Patterson, who kept in touch with Jackson after both left the city, and a 500-member choir singing "We Are the World."

The "American Idol" judge married her beau, contractor Mike McCuddy.
It's been a big year for DioGuardi: The 38-year-old songwriter joined the judges' panel on "American Idol," adding new blood to the Fox singing contest's regular three-judge format.

In the spring, DioGuardi told PEOPLE she wanted a Maine wedding. “It’s so natural, so beautiful, so calm, so accepting,” she said. “If all this went bad, I’d be on the next plane to Maine. You wouldn’t see me for a few years!”

In the spring, DioGuardi told PEOPLE she wanted a Maine wedding. “It’s so natural, so beautiful, so calm, so accepting,” she said. “If all this went bad, I’d be on the next plane to Maine. You wouldn’t see me for a few years!”

Michael Jackson Investigation
As investigators continue to dig into the mystery of Michael Jackson's death, new details are emerging constantly. A Jackson family source confirmed to E! News that there were needle marks on the singer's body, consistent with tales of drug injections, and at least four of Jackson's former doctors are facing intense scrutiny.
The source also claims that police are probing at least two unidentified anesthesiologist who might have information about if and how the King of Pop was able to get his hands on the potent anesthetic Diprivan that was reportedly found at the mansion when he died.
LAPD detectives, who are being assisted by the DEA, have a special interest in questioning Beverly Hills dermatologist Arnold Klein and are still focusing on Dr. Conrad Murray, according to the source. Murray was with Jackson in his Holmby Hills Mansion at the time of his death, and has already been questioned by police.
The source also confirmed that needle marks were found on Jackson's body during the coroner's autopsy. While the source would not confirm where on the body the marks were, they were consistent with puncture wounds from injectable medications.
Jackson's family is still cooperating with police, according to the source.
