French footballer Anelka was kicked out of the French squad on Saturday after insulting Domenech at half-time in their 2-0 defeat by Mexico in their Group A game in Polokwane on Thursday.

"I had another chat with him and left open the possibility for him to apologise," said the 57-year-old.
The player's crude remarks were printed on the front page of French sports daily L'Equipe on Saturday and later that day the French Football Federation decided to send Anelka home.
"People don't imagine the pressure we have," the coach said when asked why Anelka had insulted him. "When the coach makes remarks, a player can lose his nerve and have words."
"We are in a dressing room, the coach says something to a player who is already under pressure, he can react angrily, and with strong words.
"He did not react in the most suitable fashion. But it was just a guy sitting in his corner and muttering - that would not have mattered had it stayed there.
What was important was that it made the front page of a newspaper, and that exposes the internal life of the squad."
"There's a tiny chance," said Domenech, aware that a draw between Mexico and Uruguay would put both France and the hosts out of the tournament. "We must win, score goals and hope things go our way."

US jazz singer and actress Lena Horne dies in New York

Legendary US jazz singer and actress Lena Horne, who broke down barriers for black performers in the 1940s and later dedicated herself to the civil rights movement, has died at the age of 92.

The New York Times reported the death occurred late on Sunday at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center and was announced by her son-in-law, Kevin Buckley.
Horne rose to fame in the mid 1940s, with musicals that included Thousands Cheer (1943), Broadway Rhythm (1944), Two Girls and a Sailor (1944), Ziegfeld Follies (1946), and Words and Music (1948).
A sultry beauty with a silky voice, her performance in several Hollywood movies however was filmed in ways so that editors could cut her out when the movie was shown in the racially segregated southern United States.
At the peak of her career Horne performed in the top US night clubs and cabarets, singing and appearing in shows with other prominent performers such as Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, and Frank Sinatra.
Horne, however, was clear about the secret of her success. "I was unique in that I was a kind of black that white people could accept," Horne once said, according to the Los Angeles Times.
"I was their daydream. I had the worst kind of acceptance because it was never for how great I was or what I contributed. It was because of the way I looked."
Horne is survived by her daughter, Gail Lumet Buckley, according to the report. Her husband died in 1971 and her son died of kidney failure the same year.

Actor James Caviezel suffered cuts and bruises when a man hurled a bicycle into the path of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, says the Washington State Patrol.

Caviezel, who portrayed Jesus in Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ," was injured Thursday afternoon.
Trooper Rich Magnussen says the actor was taken to Cascade Medical Center in this northcentral Washington city for treatment of cuts and bruises.

Magnussen also says the 40-year-old Caviezel, of Woodland Hills, Calif., was wearing a helmet, and that "it could have been a lot worse." The trooper says he doesn't know why the actor was in the area about 14 miles southeast of this city in north-central Washington.
There was no indication why the man tossed the bike into the path of Caviezel's 2006 Harley Davidson but Magnussen says mental issues may be involved.
Caviezel portrayed Jesus in Mel Gibson's movie. He was born in Mount Vernon, Wash.

Jaws star RICHARD DREYFUSS has dismissed a lawsuit against his father and son after he accused the pair of failing to pay back a loan.

Dreyfuss sued the men last year, claiming they owed him nearly $4 million on an unpaid loan.
The "Mr. Holland's Opus" and "Jaws" actor claimed he loaned his father, Norman, and uncle Gilbert Dreyfuss, money in the early 1980s. His suit stated the men operated a building in downtown Los Angeles.

He then amended the lawsuit in December 2008 claiming that there is further financial wrongdoing in relation to the case, and demanded the pair pay back $4 million in total.
But, according to Los Angeles court records, Dreyfuss asked for a case dismissal in June (09).
It is not known if there was a financial settlement between the warring sides, but documents state Dreyfuss is at liberty to refile the case if he so wishes.

Some of the biggest names in pop music, from singers Mariah Carey and Stevie Wonder to Motown records founder Berry Gordy, will take part in Michael Jackson's memorial.
Pop music singers Usher and Jennifer Hudson will mix with R&B veterans Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie and Stevie Wonder while sports stars like Kobe Bryant and other celebrities such as Brooke Shields also are expected to turn out.

Some 18,000 fans and friends will crowd into the Staples Center sports arena and a nearby, overflow theater for the two-hour ceremony memorializing pop star Jackson, who died June 25 after suffering cardiac arrest in his Los Angeles mansion.
About 1.6 million people registered to be among the 8,750 to receive two free tickets to the event. Successful fans lined up on Monday to collect their tickets, although some tried to auction their vouchers on websites like eBay and Craigslist.
The memorial will be televised live on major U.S. networks, as well as streamed on the Internet.

Jennifer Hudson,Kobe Bryant, Mariah Carey Usher and Lionel Richie are among the celebrities who will participate in Michael Jackson's memorial service Tuesday morning at L.A.'s Staples Center, Usmagazine.com has confirmed.

The list does not specify which of the attendees will perform, but Carey is reportedly slated to reprise her famous cover of the Jackson song "I'll Be There" at the public ceremony and CNN has reported that Oscar-winning actress/singer Hudson will also sing at the event. Wonder was a contemporary of Jackson's on the Motown label in the late 1960s and early 1970s, Usher has often stated how influential Jackson was on his career, and Mayer performed the iconic guitar solo in "Beat It" on Fall Out Boy's 2008 cover of the song.
Others participating in the service reportedly will include John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Usher, Stevie Wonder, Kobe Bryant, Brooke Shields, Magic Johnson, Berry Gordy, Rev. Al Sharpton and Martin Luther King III.
Jackson's ex-wife Debbie Rowe, who backed out of going because "her attendance would be an unnecessary distraction to an event

As investigators continue to dig into the mystery of Michael Jackson's death, new details are emerging constantly. A Jackson family source confirmed to E! News that there were needle marks on the singer's body, consistent with tales of drug injections, and at least four of Jackson's former doctors are facing intense scrutiny.

The source also claims that police are probing at least two unidentified anesthesiologist who might have information about if and how the King of Pop was able to get his hands on the potent anesthetic Diprivan that was reportedly found at the mansion when he died.
LAPD detectives, who are being assisted by the DEA, have a special interest in questioning Beverly Hills dermatologist Arnold Klein and are still focusing on Dr. Conrad Murray, according to the source. Murray was with Jackson in his Holmby Hills Mansion at the time of his death, and has already been questioned by police.

The source also confirmed that needle marks were found on Jackson's body during the coroner's autopsy. While the source would not confirm where on the body the marks were, they were consistent with puncture wounds from injectable medications.
Jackson's family is still cooperating with police, according to the source.
